Hand Portraits — The Shape of the Space Between Us

What if a portrait captured your connection rather than your appearance?

I create abstract hand portraits for couples, families, friends, and lovers — using silhouettes of your actual hands to create a portrait of presence and connection.

Each piece begins with an in-person creative session rooted in touch, conversation, movement, and observation. Together, we create hand tracings that become the foundation of the artwork.

I then work intuitively with colour, transparency, layering, and composition — creating many painting experiments until something emerges that feels emotionally true to your relationship. The orientations of the hands, their proximity, overlap, and the space between them begin to reveal something subtle about how you hold and are held by one another.

The final piece becomes something between painting, ritual, and portraiture — not a literal likeness, but an energetic and emotional reflection of closeness, memory, care, and connection.

This commission includes both the shared experience of creating the hand tracings together and a one-of-a-kind artwork infused with your collective presence.

$2600 new commissions. *Commission includes: collaborative choice in the colour palette, silhouettes made from you and your family’s own hands, choice of background canvas colour & size. Framing available upon request.

Somatic Art Workshop –  Vancouver studio *subscribe for upcoming dates

An embodied art workshop for anyone curious about creativity, intuition, and making from felt experience rather than pressure or performance. Through simple somatic practices, movement, visualization, and mark-making, we’ll explore drawing and painting as a way of listening to the body. This session will include space for witnessing, larger-scale expression, and working toward fuller-bodied forms of painting and gesture. No art experience is needed — only curiosity. Open to both newcomers and returning participants. Returning participants will have the opportunity to deepen into the practices and more full-body expression. You’ll leave with: — expressive drawings and paintings rooted in sensation and intuition — simple practices for creative grounding and embodied presence — a deeper connection to your own creative process Materials provided.
